Hello my name is Sandra. I am the mother of three wonderful boys. They are 1,2,9. We recently found out our 2 year old has autism. His life is now altered along with ours for the rest of our lives. This process has not been easy on us But I thought if I could educate just one person I would feel better about it. Maybe even thats why this has happened to my family so I can learn and help others.
With this site I hope to show you useful links and long with other usefull info. about Autism.
~In 1970 Autism hit only 1-2 children per 10,000. Today in the US alone it strikes 1 in every 166 children
There are many different signs of autism. Most of the time your child will develop normally into the second year of life. Then it strikes what seems like all of a sudden.
Some but not limited to of the signs are
Tantrums mild to severe. Or causing harm to themselves with no fears of pain.
Many autistic chilren have trouble with normal day to day things such as haircuts, baths, nail trimming and clothing.
They are picky about food items and clothing.Sometimes even like to eat non food items.
No speech, delayed speech, or even losing speech on and off.
Sometimes appear to not hear you or ignore you and surroundings. Dont understand you or follow normal commands such as "bring me your juice"
Prefer to be alone and seem distant. Non responsive. doesnt play will other children.
Likes to play with toys in the wrong way. Lines things up in rows or an order obsessivly.
frequestly hold or covers ears or eyes.
Hand flaps or spins alot.
If your toddler has some or many of these signs it may be time to have it checked out. The earlier you get help the better it will be for them.
